I have a tiny pet lizard - what should I put in the tank as his habitat?

In the tank with my pet lizard at the moment is white rocks as the flooring and plastic ornaments that he loves playing on.. But should I put in more plants and bark and sand? Or will he be fine playing with plastic ornaments?
