Pearl Harbor (the movie) fans: How could Rafe accept Danny's child as his own???

Didn't Danny steal Evelyn from him? And in the rule book for men, that's the highest form of betrayal between friends! So how could Rafe raise Danny's son as his own?!? If I was Rafe, I wouldn't have been able to forgive Evelyn!
